Substation Construction
1. Install substation structures and equipment such as (but not limited to) transformers, switchgear, HV Disconnectors
2. Underground cables, marshalling kiosks,VTs, CTs, batteries banks, circuit breakers, and apparatus
vital to the operation of a substation such as auxiliary equipment.
3. Assist in the installation and testing of equipment related to metering, communication systems, and relaying systems
which include electro-mechanical and solid-state electronic types where applicable.
4. Assist in the testing and maintenance of communication equipment and relay protection systems.
5. Operate vehicles and equipment necessary to perform the job.
6. Recognize and control the hazards involved in working in energized control cabinets.
7. Switchyard cable laying/ routing and wiring marshalling kiosks
8. Substation earthing
9. Pulling and laying cables in overhead trays in switch rooms/switchboards
10. Fabrication–mark and punch gland holes on panel gland plates to cable specifications
11. Gland the multi core cables into the panel cabinets using nylon glands.
12. Terminate cable and wire panels using schematic and single line diagrams
13. Perform point to point checking to verify the wiring to eliminate errorswiring and
verifying the integrity of the wiring and its errorsconformity to the AS/NZS 3000 2007.
14. Earthing, crimping, cable stripping and lugging all done to Australian standard.
